I HATE THE PHRASE 'GOALS'

This is why I hate the phrase 'goals':

As many on social networking may be aware, the word 'goals' has been drastically overused by many a teenage girl. The idea behind this being; when an individual sees a post that they find either attractive or something they aspire to achieve, they may comment 'goals' - with a handful of over exaggerated emojis.

Now, don't get me wrong, I have before used the phrase 'goals' to describe something - *holds hands in air* don't shoot me. The problem that has evolved, is that people have begun to use these 'goals' as a distraction from reality. Whilst scrolling through the comments of Jay Alvarrez's new YouTube video, on numerous occasions I came across the term 'goals' (Jay being a recent example however there are many more examples I can give).

The fact is, we have all become so delusional with the idea that we must be in a perfect relationship, have amazing tans, go sky diving, surfing, snow-boarding, hiking, swimming under waterfalls, travel the world, have a body ripped with abs and so on. In dream land, this would be nice, however in reality, it's not like that. You see, I'm not saying that these types of activities are ones that we shouldn't strive for. In all honesty, it would be amazing to travel like the 18 year old couple do. However, it is 100% fine to be at school, in education, working, living at home with your parents etc. We shouldn't beat ourselves up about not having these opportunities at such a young age.

I know for a fact, that at the age of 18, I would not have the great quantity of money to allow me to venture in such destinations. Never the less, during the time that I don't have that money - I will be working towards having it, so I can do just that.

The activities we witness in photos, videos, TV, movies and social networking in general, of idolised characters - are seriously cool. Yet, my main point is that just because another individual has body, hair, face, boyfriend, girlfriend, house, career, whatever .... 'goals' does not mean they are a better human than yourself.

We degrade ourselves whilst comparing our life to that of another who are 'goals' and it is unhealthy. It simply means that we are less happy and won't appreciate what we have as much as we would if we didn't idolise people and their lives.

This is why, I personally, am against shows such as Keeping Up With The Kardashians and idolising YouTubers (something I once did, but no longer do). I no longer idolise individuals such as YouTubers because, I am happy with the life that I am living and will appreciate everything that I have. Yes, I will watch their vlogs every now and again however, that is because being the nosey individual I am, I love to see what other people get up to with their lives.

Overall, we should not idolise people or their relationships as it is unhealthy and unrealistic. We will never truthfully know what that individual may be going through behind the camera, as on social media it is so easy to create a false character, that may in fact be someone completely different from who you actually are deep down.

In other words, keep your focused of your aspirations but don't dwell on what you don't currently have.

Dear Reader,

anna

After having been writing this blog for over a year now, it has left me time to think over things.

For the last year, I have been writing on and off on this blog and I honestly feel it is a little part of me. Once I turned on my laptop earlier this evening, I noticed that I had reached 225,000+ views on google+ and over 15,000 views on my blog - something I am personally really proud of.

Now, (slightly bursting my bubble) a mate of mine expressed that that number 'isn't that big tbh'. Not only was I slightly annoyed by this, it made me realise something: For over a year I have been writing on a blog with the intention to inspire hundreds of people. Obviously, I know that this is not true yet - due to the 'isn't that big tbh' number of views and that I don't have millions of followers.

But here's the thing, I never ever do any of this for the views. I do it because I love to write, capture amazing memories and then be able to come back and read about them in a few years time. This is like an online diary and no matter how many times someone tells me that my channel sucks or that I don't have many followers, I simply smile.

To others, it may seem tiny. To me, it seems massive. To see how far I have come is my favourite part of it all. To know that this time 2 years ago, I had only dreamed of starting a blog and maybe even a YouTube channel. I jumped out of my comfort zone - changing myself as a hole. I now have no shame in what I enjoy doing, people will try to affect me by telling me what I do is rubbish but I just laugh.

I know that deep down, it is something I really wish to do in the future. Writing is something I love to do and further more, to peruse some sort of career in it would be ideal and a dream come true. I wanted to mainly say a simple thank you. Thank you to the 1771 people who follow me across all platforms - you all mean so much to me.

Follow your dreams and do everything and anything that makes you happy. Keep smiling and listening to good music (such as Green Day).

Blogging Tips For Beginners | #tryingtogiveadvice

Since I have nearly been blogging here for a year, I have learnt a number of tips and tricks.

I have also been asked a number of times about my blog from friends and readers so I wanted to make a post about exactly that.

How did you get into blogging?

I first saw Zoe Sugg's blog over the summer of 2011. I thought that it was such a cool idea. Me being the nervous 11 years old, I didn't want to start my own blog as I thought people would call me weird and judge me for it. Despite that, last year I decided just to go for it. Honestly it's the best thing I have chosen to do, I just love you guys.

Why do you use blogspot?

I use blogspot simply because it is simple. It is so easy to create content and share it in a matter of minutes. I can also easily link it to my google with comes in very handy when sharing posts.

What do you use to take your photos?

The Sony DSC- HX300

How do you edit your photos?

The majority of my photos aren't actually edited however if they are I use picmonkey.com it's the best website for simple editing of photos. I recently used the website to update my header.

How did you add all the extra things on your blog (like the follow icons)?

I recently found this really cool website called addthis.com. It lets you add share buttons and other snazzy things to your blog. Check it out!

Who do you ask for help from when your stuck?

My good friend google.

Literally type word for word the thing your stuck on into google and it will come up.

How do you get people to read your blog?

I take an iterest in other blogs. If someone sees you reading/liking their work they are more likely to come and read yours. One thing I want to be clear on though is that it is not right to spam peoples blogs/instgram/twitter with "Follow Me On..." It's just annoying. I don't write a blog for thousands of people to follow it, I simply just enjoy writing and sharing cool things. The small number of people that follow my blog mean the world to me.

Where do you get inspiration from?

2 o'clock thoughts. Other bloggers and of course the goddess, Ella Grace Denton.

Any other tips?

Make friends with the people who read you blog.

Share your blog around on other social networking sites and tell friends and family.

Twitter is a good place to share your posts whenever you write them.

STAY YOU! Don't try and copy other peoples work.

Atelophobia

atelophobia

Atelophobia is the fear of not being good enough

The fear of never being good enough. The fear that someone will always be one step ahead. The fear that you will never live up to your own expectations, aims and ambitions.

These are the things that I find the hardest to come to terms with.

For a short while I had these thoughts spinning inside of my head but then one day it stuck me. Why should I let myself feel threatened by the thought of not doing well when I'm only at the start of my life - the bottom of the mountain. I took the thought of life being a mountain... and hopefully by the time I'm gray and old I will be looking at an incredible view. A view of all the memories I've had, times I've partied hard, done crazy spontaneous things and made myself proud.

Why waist time being scared of what will become of yourself, when you can spend that time climbing that mountain and getting closer to looking at an incredible view. Have fun. Do things that make you happy. Be whatever you want to be. But one thing promise me that you wont waist time regretting things that have past. Move on and think about the amazing things that will come next. Like my old dance teacher used to say... if you don't dream big, you wont get anywhere near that dream to be able to live it. Stick at your dreams and goals and never think that you are not good enough.

Atelophobia is caused by over thinking.

If you believe you are not good enough for someone, that person should not be a part of your life. You should feel comfortable around the people who are your 'friends'. Never settle for something you are not happy with. You are worth so much and for you to think that you are not good enough to do something or spend time with someone is just silly.

Keep your head up high and remember if you trip whilst climbing up the mountain, it dosn't mean you will fall all the way back down (you might have to have a few stitches and then choose a different route).

I'm sorry if this post was unclear... I'm so tired but I wanted to make a point.
